The Month of August was really busy for Team JSM. We traveled all the way to Sturgis followed by two weekends of racing in Crandon, Wi. I learned so much during my racing season. Being the only woman in my class was a lot of pressure. I wanted racers, sponsors and fans to take me seriously and I wanted them to believe in me. After my weekend in Crandon, I truly believe that I reached my goals. I won the respect of those people. I received so many compliments on my racing skills from other racers and fans.
The race on Friday went pretty well. I started on the second line of the land rush start and after a couple laps I worked up to 10 of 16. During the caution lap, the racer in front of me used his brake when the green flag fell and that slowed me down on the retstart. My driving was pretty aggressive but I was trying to use my head to keep control. A lot of racers started being too aggressive at the end of the race and made mistakes, giving me the opportunity to pass them. I finished 7th out of 16, my best finish of the season. Every race I got better results and I think with more seat time I will get on the podium next year. I did not race on Saturday because with the heavy rain, I did not think it was safe to race.
A lot of fans came to see us in the pits and checked out our displays by Lincoln Welders and Rigid Industries LED Lighting. It was pretty cool to see little girls in the crowd wearing the Off-Road Vixens clothing to support me in my racing.
I really want to thank ISP Seats for making the different for me this year. With an ISP seat in my buggy, it gives me the chance to focus on my racing and to not question my safety. For my safety, I also use Pyrotect equipment and I’m really satisfied with the quality of their products. I also want to thank K&N Filters, Cooper Tires and Amsoil Racing for believing in me and supplying me with the best products in the industry for my racing season.
We are done racing for this year but we are going to try to get some seat time during the off season. I’m already starting to work on next year. We will be at Sema and hopefully I get to meet most of my sponsors in person.
Again THANKS for all my sponsors,my fans and family for being behind me in my first season of Offroad racing. It is just the beginning, I have some big plans for next year!
